Professor Susana Banerjee is a leading medical oncologist specialising in gynaecological cancers, with particular expertise in ovarian cancer and the development of novel systemic therapies. She is Consultant Medical Oncologist and Research Lead for the Gynaecology Unit at The Royal Marsden NHS Foundation Trust and Professor in Women’s Cancers at The Institute of Cancer Research.
Professor Banerjee is internationally recognised for her leadership in clinical trials and translational research focused on improving outcomes for women with ovarian and other gynaecological cancers. Her work has contributed to the advancement of targeted therapies, biomarker-driven treatment strategies, and the development of new therapeutic approaches in ovarian cancer.
She has held numerous leadership roles within international oncology organisations, including the European Society for Medical Oncology (ESMO), where she served on the Executive Board and co-chaired the ESMO Gynaecological Cancers Congress. She is also actively involved in collaborative international research groups and early-phase clinical development programmes.
Professor Banerjee provides clinical and translational guidance supporting the development of next-generation CAR T-cell therapies for ovarian cancer and other solid tumours.
